![]() I've now done this twice and I believe the limit is 3 times before you cannot execute this command anymore so I started looking for a more permanent solution to the problem. ![]() I find a quick but not permanent fix online which is running cmd.exe as an administrator and entering "slmgr -rearm" which postpones the message for a month. Fast forward about 3 months later and the computer starts booting to a desktop that says "Windows Build 7601 : This copy of Windows is not genuine". I installed the hard drive correctly and installed Windows 7 Professional without any hitches. Luckily, the laptop was still under warranty and HP sent us a replacement hard drive and an OEM copy of Windows 7 Professional. ![]() ![]() One of my former co-workers powered down the laptop with the power button and it failed to restart/corrupted the hard drive. So one of my bosses has an HP HDX16T-1000 CTO Premium laptop which came with Windows Vista when it was bought.
